CEN proposal for the creation of a new CEN Technical Committee: “Professionals in the field of Naturopathy”

The national standards body of Italy (UNI) submits a proposal for the creation of a new CEN Technical Committee with the title “Professionals in the field of Naturopathy”.

The scope: The new technical committee will be established to develop a European standard on the qualification and the related knowledge, skills and competence requirements of the professionals of Naturopathy. The required knowledge, skills and competence will be defined in accordance with the European Qualification Framework (EQF) in a way to assist the processes of assessment and validation of learning outcomes. The committee will also address the treatment techniques of the Naturopathy, and the typical tools and devices that are used in the professional practice. The aim of the committee will also be to clarify the range of activity of this profession.

The necessity to technically identify the characteristics of Naturopath is urgent and important due to the following reasons:

  • In order to define and qualify the professional activity with the aim to provide confidence and quality assurance to users/customers.
  • In order to enhance the recognition of the profession of Naturopathy.
  • In order to provide a useful normative document in the light of the synergy and support between voluntary standardization and legislation.

The national stakeholders can provide their position on the proposal by 12 of January 2018 to expert Kamelia Milanova, e-mail: kamelia.milanova@bds-bg.org,tel: +359 2 81 74 539.
