Wherever you look you can find a standard!
Economical use of energy does not contradict cozy warmth in living spaces. Standardized thermostatic radiator valves contribute a lot to this fact.

CEN proposal for the creation of a new CEN Technical Committee: “Stirring and mixing industrial equipment”

The national standards body of France (AFNOR) submits a proposal for the creation of a new CEN Technical Committee with the title “Stirring and mixing industrial equipment”.

The scope of the committee includes standardization in the field of stirring and mixing industrial equipment as dynamic agitator where the continuous phase is a liquid, excluding static mixer, domestic equipment, aerators and pumps. The proposed Technical Committee would develop harmonized standards in support of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

The aim of the committee will be to develop a complete set of standards in the field of dynamic agitators and dealing with different aspects like vocabulary, performances, design, test procedures, quality and safety requirements.

Stirring and mixing equipment is widely used in different sectors such as the chemical industry, food and beverage, pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics, water treatment etc. Adding liquids in industrial processes involves highly technical engineering solution. The control of flows, temperatures, physical behavior, chemical reactions, density and viscosity are only a part of parameters to take into account.

In this large evolving field there is a lack of standards to respond to the needs of the industry. Users of dynamic agitators are involved in stirring and mixing processes which are more and more dependent on factors like cost production, quality, energy efficiency and performance. This requires optimizing the design of dynamic agitators using new measures and analysis devices.

The new Technical Committee will liaise with CEN and ISO Technical Committees: CEN/TC 197 “Pumps” and ISO/TC 115/SC 2 “Pumps – Methods of measurement and testing”.

The national stakeholders can provide their position on the proposal by 03rd of October 2017 to expert Stoyka Nacheva, e-mail: stoyka.nacheva@bds-bg.org, tel: +359 2 81 74 585.
