ISO proposal for the creation of a new technical committee on “Gold”

 

The national standards body of China (SAC) submits to ISO a proposal for the creation of a new Technical Committee “Gold”.

 

The scope of the proposal is standardization in the field of gold ores, gold concentrates, gold alloys (excluding gold jewelries), gold compounds, gold material and standardization of the development, recovery and recycling of gold.

 

The work programme of the new committee will include the formulation and revision of international standards on gold at three main levels:

  • Level I: The new TC will focus on the development of basic standards covering gold terminology and standards on the packaging, labeling, transport and storage of gold products.
  • Level II: At this level the committee will develop testing standards, including standards on the methods for chemical analysis and standards on the physical properties tests.
  • Level III: Level III will cover product standards, including standards on the development, recovery and recycling of gold ores, gold concentrates, gold alloys, gold compounds, gold material and requirements related to safety, environmental protection and occupational health.

 

Countries having interest in the establishment of technical committee on gold are China, Austria, Russia, the United States, Peru, South Africa, Canada, India, UK, Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey.

 

In case of national interest, BDS can approve the creation of ISO/TC on “Gold”. If the establishment of ISO/TC is accepted by the national standards bodies – members of ISO, Bulgaria can obtain P- or O-membership in the work of the newly established committee.
